Shift + ← → turns the map 15° a press, from anywhere on the page
Shift + ↑ ↓ tilts the map 10° a press, from anywhere on the page
Drag to explore, scroll to zoom, and right-click and drag to tilt or rotate — on a Mac trackpad, two-finger click and drag does the same. On touch screens, use two fingers to zoom, tilt or turn the map; in Safari on a Mac, twisting two fingers on the trackpad turns it too. Chrome and Firefox do not report that twist, so there the heading comes from right-click and drag or the compass. Shift and the left or right arrow turns the map 15° at a time, and Shift with up or down tilts it 10° at a time, from anywhere on the page.
Search for a place, switch map styles, or zoom out to see the globe. Use Layers to toggle roads and hiking trails. Click the compass to adjust heading from −180° to +179°; due north is 0°. Click 3D to adjust tilt from 0° overhead to 80°. Click anywhere to save a waypoint. Use ↔ to measure distances between points.
